Powered by artificial intelligence, a new app called Fin Finder enables customs inspectors to take a photo of a shark or ray fin and identify it within seconds. Developed by Conservation International in partnership with Singapore’s National Parks Board, and supported by Microsoft and other partners, this app could help governments confiscate illegal animal parts that are hidden in plain sight.

This season, we’re bringing together leading engineers, conservationists, and academics to explore the future of technology in movement ecology and ask where exactly investment is needed to catapult this field forward.
The fourth and final meetup of Season 4 will explore Future Questions & Tools in Movement Ecology and will be held on Wednesday, June 8 at 3:00 PM BST / 10:00 AM EDT. We'll hear short talks from leading experts Christian Rutz, Ran Nathan, Martin Wikelski, and Tanya Berger-Wolf, followed by open discussion and community exchange.
