Upcoming Event: First Americas Regional Conference on the Illegal Trade in Wildlife

Thread continued from Upcoming Events

Hi everybody!

A cool event coming up is the First Americas Regional Conference on the Illegal Trade in Wildlife, which will be hosted by the Government of Peru on the 3rd and 4th of October 2019.

The Conference will be the first regional meeting of the Americas on the issue of illegal wildlife trade, as a follow-up to the London International Conference held in 2018, and will serve as a platform to establish partnerships with the countries of the region and major transit and destination countries, for the prevention and coordinated control of illegal wildlife trade. It will include emerging issues such as the strengthening and harmonization of legal frameworks and their enforcement; controls and regulations on wildlife trade; use of new technologies to combat illegal wildlife trade; and demand reduction through innovative and efficient communication mechanisms.

The Conference will be organized by the Government of Peru, in cooperation with the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).
