TRAINING Opportunity: Open spots available at first ever Global SMART Marine Training in Jamaica March 2019

The SMART Partnership is hosting the first ever Global SMART Marine Training of Trainers this upcoming March 18-22, 2019 in Port Antonio, Jamaica.

We have a few open places for participants, which we are opening up to the global SMART community. Specific details on the training are below.

Logistics:

  • Dates:
    • Monday 18th through Friday, 22nd March, 2019
    • The training will run Monday-Friday, but participants are expected to arrive on Sunday the 17th and depart either the evening of Friday the 22nd or on Saturday the 23rd
  • Location:
    • Training: Alligator Head Foundation Headquarters, Port Antonio, Jamaica
    • Accommodation: Bay View Eco Resort, Port Antonio, Jamaica
    • Participant should expect costs of ~$150/person/day, including all meals.
      • Accommodation at the group hotel is $110/per night - single occupancy (inclusive of breakfast) and $126/per night - double occupancy (inclusive of breakfast)
      • Participants are welcome to arrange their own accommodation elsewhere, meals will be arranged in groups and we will need to confirm your participation well in advance.
    • There is no additional fee for participation in the training.
  • Course Curriculum:
    • The training will cover the use and application of SMART software in the marine context, including the philosophy of adaptive patrol management, the role that SMART plays in facilitating this, how to use SMART as a tool to support protection efforts; the process of implementing SMART at a site (trainings, meetings, logistics, and technical support), and how to adapt the tool to the particular needs of your site.
  • Participation Support: Participants are expected to self-support their participation (flights, meals, accommodation, etc.).
