UNEP-WCMC is a not-for-profit organisation devoted to promoting, for public benefit, the conservation, protection, enhancement and support of nature and natural resources worldwide. At UNEP-WCMC we’re building web applications to help save the planet.

We’re a close-knit team of passionate developers, UX/UI designers and product managers putting our skills towards a mission to tackle one of the biggest problems of our time - the massive loss of biodiversity and habitat destruction that’s pushing the planet to the brink of the 6th mass extinction.

There is huge focus on climate change and conserving biodiversity especially in 2020 where the new global targets are to be set around "Ecological Civilization: Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth". We are expanding our team in response to the large demand for digital expertise within the conservation industry. We work across a variety of projects that provide solutions to the private sector, governmental bodies and other not-for profits including the United Nations.

We’re looking for a motivated IT Apprentice to join our growing team and to work with us to ensure that our IT Infrastructure operates smoothly. We are totally committed to investing in you and your future career, offering the opportunity to gain an Infrastructure Technician, Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification. 20% of your time in the role will involve studying towards this qualification. Right from the start, we’ll give you excellent training and all the support you need.

Our varied IT infrastructure and supporting learning culture provides opportunities for you to grow upwards or sideways within the organisation, allowing you to progress in the area of work that suits you and the organisation best.

You will need professional experience in Helpdesk / 1st line support, as well as a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, and both Windows and Linux Operating Systems.  You will possess excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail and have a proactive attitude to helping and supporting users through your excellent problem skills.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organised individual who is flexible in their approach and be willing to learn.  You will thrive on working in a busy, demanding environment and have the ability to work as part of a team, or on your own initiative

We will provide you with the challenge of working on high profile conservation projects, where your work really makes a difference to the field of conservation in an area aligned to our strategic aims and broader global initiatives. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with your can-do attitude we want to hear from you. Please complete our application form and send it together with your CV and a short covering letter through the link below by 8th March 2020.  Applicants must be able to evidence the right to work in the UK.
