AVISONA 2019 will provide:
- Hands-on training in the use of various bird recording equipment
- Guidance on generation and handling of a database
- Assistance carrying out sonic data analysis
- Interpretation of results
Outcomes
After the successful completion of the workshop the participants will be able to:
- Independently record bird calls using sonic recorders.
- Create a database for the sonic data recorded.
- Analyse the acoustic data (R statistical tool)
- Interpret the results based on analysis
Location
Nilambur town (11°15'17.46"N, 76°10'54.66"E), on the banks of the Chaliyar river, is close to the Nilgiris range of the Western Ghats. The place is home to teak in India and hosts the first teak museum in the world. Connolly’s plot plantation, Kovilakom (house of erstwhile royalties) and few waterfalls are the other places of interest. The workshop venue (Sattva) is very close to Koyippara Waterfalls. The rail route from Shornur to Nilambur is one of the finest stretches in India.

Registration fees cover workshop kit, local conveyance from Nilambur, food, and accommodation during the workshop.
