Primates You May Have Missed - Using Bioacoustics for Primate Research

Time: January 20th, 2022, at 3-5pm GMT

Often we think of bioacoustics research in conjunction with bats, birds, or marine life. This webinar will make you think again! Three fascinating presenters talk about: analysing Hainan gibbon vocalisations (Emmanuel Dufourq); Slow Loris communication (Anna Nekaris); and using passive acoustic monitoring for chimpanzee conservation (Anne-Sophie Crunchant). This free webinar highlights the Primates You May Have Missed.

This webinar will be held over Zoom. Each presenter will have a 15 minute pre-recorded presentation followed by 15 minutes of live Q&A. Feel free to ask the questions in the chat, and upvote the questions in the Q&A feature.

Talks:

  • The world’s rarest primate: A machine learning journey
  • Ultrasonic communication to maintain social cohesion in the territorial and venomous Javan slow loris
  • Acoustically assessing apes: chimpanzee conservation with passive acoustic monitoring.
