Job Opportunity: Technical Innovations Specialist at Integra LLC

Integra LLC is hiring a Technological Innovations Specialist based in Bangkok, Thailand, to work on innovations in using technology to combat wildlife crime. S/He must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relelvant experience and at least six years experience in scaling up and planning system/application development projects. In collaboration with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), USAID, through the USAID Wildlife Asia activity, addresses wildlife trafficking by working to reduce demand of wildlife products and to improve regional action to end wildlife crime in Southeast Asia and China. USAID Wildlife Asia will look for additional opportunities to use emerging technologies to combat illegal wildlife trafficking through enforcement, policy reform, and coordination and collaboration across agencies, institutions, and the region.

Job Description:

The Technology Innovations Specialist, based in Bangkok, Thailand, will support innovations and interventions on this interdisciplinary regional program, supporting improved capacity to combat wildlife trafficking in South East Asia and China. The Specialist will help conservationists, law enforcement officials, policy and regulatory decision-makers design and/or source and match technology solutions with management challenges in law enforcement and wildlife protection, and will promote tech innovation for wildlife conservation.

The Specialist will assess existing anti-poaching and wildlife trafficking technologies, analytical tools and technological processes that could support data collection for behavior change communication; law enforcement (communications, data sharing, and security); regulatory and policy initiatives; and to improve information exchange and coordination between USG actors and between regional stakeholders. Opportunities for education of the wildlife conservation community on the uses of technology will also be a critical focus.


  • Lead all technology and innovation initiatives for the project. This may include working with data collection systems, mobile applications, social media and knowledge management platforms, and improved data sharing between agencies
  • Coordinate with a Database Specialist on the monitoring of species-related threats and make recommendations for technological process improvements
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to senior program staff and ICT partners in the use of technology solutions and innovative approaches to support activity outcomes
  • Provide recommendations for technology improvements (e.g., existing training platforms, e-learning modules, smart applications, tracking and criminal database management, or monitoring, response, and data analysis)

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or a comparable relevant experience
  • Fluency in English
  • At least 6 years of experience with progressively increasing responsibility in designing, implementing, and managing application/systems development projects
  • Hands-on, current expertise with web-based content management systems, mobile data collection platforms, data reporting tools, and open-source web development technologies (PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, secured applications, etc.)
  • Effective written and oral communication, presentation, and representational skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Advance degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or a similar field
  • Experience in digital product management
  • Fluency in one or more of the ASEAN languages
  • Experience developing and refining knowledge management tools that can work across agencies, institutions, and regionally
  • Effective written and oral communication, presentation, and representational skills
  • Familiarity with ASEAN, ASEAN-WEN, and/or the wildlife trafficking sector in South East Asia
