Arribada, in partnership with ZSL, is building a thermal camera system consisting of low-cost thermal sensors, machine learning and wireless transmission of alerts, to automatically detect thermal signature of species of concern and provide early warning to response teams. Low-cost, low-resolution sensors are used with machine learning for automatic identification of species including elephants. Alerts are sent if these species are detected to warn residents of potentially dangerous situations, help create reliable reports and aid understanding of elephant movements to help develop long-term conflict management strategies.
