Overview  

IUCN is a membership Union composed of both government and civil society organisations. It brings together the world's most influential organisations and experts to conserve nature and accelerate the transition to sustainable development. There are 6 scientific commissions working on specific areas e.g. Species Survival Commission and a secretariat that focusses on key themes and is organised into 11 operational regions. It is the global authority on the status of the natural world and measures needed to safeguard it.
