Overview  

MERMAID (Marine Ecological Research Management Aid) is an open-source application that collects and manages real-time data on coral reef ecosystem health. Developed in partnership with the WCS, WWF, and Sparkgeo, MERMAID replaces underwater clipboard notation with direct aggregation of observations onto the platform. It offers both online and offline data collection and allows reef scientists to analyse and share their field surveys on an open source platform. It counts 1,171 users across 22 countries and 65 organizations.
