DynAIkon Trap is a build-your-own camera trap that uses artificial intelligence to help detect animals. The trap uses the camera as its own trigger, running an animal detection machine learning model on motion detected in the camera's field of view. With this design the camera trap is able to run on a Raspberry Pi computer, while reducing delays in capture and increasing the detection of small animals that could be missed by heat sensors. The DynAIkon Trap uses a pipeline of multiple filters to filter out video frames and supports the use of USB attached sensors for record environmental sensor values such as air pressure, temperature, sun angle, and more.
